Meet Ben Beard – Today is the first of our series introducing you to each of our team members here at Red Oak. We think it is of utmost importance to form close connections and rapport with our customers. What better way to do it than to be able to put faces to names?
Ben is our Managing Director and has been with the company for 15 years now.

Introducing Ben Beard, Managing Director, Red Oak Teamwear.
What is your favourite thing about being part of the Red Oak team?
Our current team is the best team I’ve ever worked with. Work doesn’t feel like work. That’s pretty cool.
When it comes to work, what is your biggest pet peeve?
Double handling or over-complicating tasks.
Do you have a favourite quote, and what is it?
My Grandfather gave me 2! They are:
1) Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. It seems the most intelligent people are those, who act intelligently — not those who study, yet fail to do anything with what they know.
2) Tough times never last but tough people do.
What book are you reading now?
Loved the Power of One and anything by Tom Clancy.
What was the first concert you ever went to?
Bruce Springsteen at QEII
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Too many to list! Love good food and wine.
What is your hidden talent that may surprise people who don’t know you?
I’m not that smart so I am very good at keeping things simple.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Own my own business. No idea what business.
What is the weirdest food you’ve ever eaten?
Monkey Brains in China. Lots of random things eaten in China!
Who is your hero, and why?
My mum. She ensured I was raised with strong moral compass and resilience. We were encouraged to have a crack. Mistakes are part of life – go for it.
My brother and I very independent because of the way mum raised us. We are very very lucky to have the childhood we had.
